Colosseum Cinema: Historic Movie Theater Experience
Colosseum Kino is a cinema in Majorstuen, Oslo, opened on November 28, 1928. Designed by architect Ove Ekman in a monumental Neo-Classical style, it has 1,224 seats in its main auditorium — making it the largest cinema in Northern Europe. The building is listed as a protected cultural heritage site.
The interior features a large curved screen and Art Deco detailing from the original 1928 construction. The cinema was renovated in the early 2000s with modern projection and sound equipment while preserving the historic architecture. It screens major international releases and Norwegian films, and regularly hosts premieres.
